shotgun ready and packing a laundry basket full of wardrobe options, it was an un-characteristically warm january day... perfect for quyen & john's engagement shoot. we tramped around the ladera backwoods with our friends, trying not to scare off any of the local soccer mom's with john's 12 gauge.

john & quyen are getting married at the muckenthaler mansion in fullerton, later this year. and i can't tell you how excited carlie & i are for this wedding!! quyen & john have run in our circle of friends for a number of years, and we feel so blessed to have been invited into this part of their story.

so, quyen & john, thank you. we especially enjoyed sharing a cold brew after the shoot, and can't wait to hang out again soon...

earlier this week, our friend aaron dieppa, blessed carlie & i when he stopped by our home studio in ladera. we had the opportunity to chilax a bit in our new client lounge, and share a bit about how we got started in the biz. check it out...

Oh My Deer

a dear friend of mine showed me the beautiful creations of chelsea a few months ago. i swooned. if only i had known about these beautiful pieces when i had gotten married. she uses lace, silk flowers, feathers, old antique jewelry and buttons to create her handmade's, among many other creative things.

chelsea and her very talented husband tec were just featured on the cover of southern weddings magazine . if you haven't already, go and visit the website or purchase the magazine!! you will not be disappointed! the magazine features chelsea and tec's beautiful tennessee wedding among other amazing weddings!

A Girls Best Friend

today is a sick day. it is 3:00pm and i am still in my pajamas. i dont mind though cause i get to lay on the couch with a diet pepsi and potato chips while watching a the first 48 . have you ever watched that show? i'm addicted.

so while i was enjoying my "day off", i decided to browse the internets. i came across this website polyvore , and oh i fell in love. ok ladies, imagine this... your in a mall (but even better a website!!) where there is every single store you could ever want to shop at! i don't know about you, but this concept is pretty amazing. you can make "sets" where you put together your very own outfit including makeup, shoes and accessories. i felt like a kid in a candy store, or a little girl in toys r' us surrounded by hundreds of barbies!!! yes, it was that exciting!

so i wanted to share with you some of my creations that show a bit more of my personality. hope that you enjoy and go have fun shopping and creating for yourself!!

this outfit makes me swoon. the pretty skirt and purse with a sassy heel and leather jacket!!


i also put together a "what to" for makeup on your wedding day. this is all the exact makeup i used for myself on my wedding day.


and shoes!!! oh the shoes. don't get me started. :)

Gabriel Ryan on Southern Weddings

so, the other day our good friend dropped me a tweet asking if we had checked out the latest post on the southern wedding's blog. to my surprise, i stumbled across the story of one of our most amazing couples... kacie & greg. you might remember, kacie & greg were married during the fall up in napa. thanks SW for dropping some love! thanks ashley rose for keeping us in the loop!! and thanks kacie & greg for giving us the chance to be part of such an incredible story: yours!!!

One Thousand Frames Later

a little over a year ago, mark brooke & i sat down with our good friend, dane sanders. we asked him what it would take to be successful in starting & lasting with our photo businesses. from the incredible conversation, i remembered one task, very clearly, which dane commissioned both mark & myself with. take 100,000 photos. carlie & i have done that. and here are some of our favorites.
